Party like a Leprechuan!

St. Patricks Day Party

While you can really only call it a St. Patrick’s Day party if it is on St. Paddy’s day you can throw an Irish themed party at any time. You don’t have to limit your green beer and alcohol drinking just to the 17th of March!

To have a great St. Patrick’s Day party there are a few guidelines to keep in mind.

St. Patrick’s Day Decorations: The first and foremost – and most obvious – is to include plenty of green! Your St. Patrick’s Day decorations should be predominantly green and it’s not a bad idea to include plenty of shamrocks and leprechaun images!

St. Patrick’s Day Supplies: Though beads are mainly associated with Mardi Gras there are beads made specifically for St. Paddy’s day! These are both fun to wear to get in that festive mood and also are great for decorations. Other supplies include St. Patrick’s Day party supplies such as themed paper plates, napkins and cups. While these are not mandatory they are a simple fix for getting into that St. Patrick’s Day feeling.

St. Patrick’s Day Food: Food is always a must for parties and the right St. Patrick’s Day food is no exception! It’s easy enough to find recipes that you like for traditional Irish dishes such as corned beef and cabbage or even a good stew with potatoes. You can’t go wrong with potatoes! Or you could always use some food coloring and turn whatever foods you want to make green!

St. Patrick’s Day Music: The Irish are known around the world for their drinking songs! These classic tunes are sure to get everyone into a party spirit especially if the green beer is flowing! Thanks to places like iTunes you can download these little ditties for your party. Also look for traditional Celtic music. It’s also easy to find cds or mp3 downloads with a bit of searching online. Of course, if you know anyone who can fiddle that will liven up your party and lend it an authentic atmosphere as well! With the right music you might motivate some of your guests (or yourself) to imitate the moves of the River Dancers!

St. Patrick’s Day Costumes: Having a break from your everyday clothes is always fun – even the typical party clothes. St. Paddy’s day is a great time to dress in a cute costume – whether as a leprechaun or a cute beer garden girl outfit. There are plenty of costumes just for St. Patrick’s day that you can find online any time of the year. These costumes are available in a lot of variations from cute or classic and conservative to very sexy. Also there are costumes available for toddlers and children and in addition ones for the dog! Or you can always make your costume very simple by just wearing a fun St. Patrick’s Day hat!

No matter what time of year you throw your party – in July or on St. Patrick’s Day – you can get your Irish on with just a few simple components. Putting together a fun Irish themed party is very simple and it can be a nice change of pace from your standard get together.
